The Chair of Hanfod Cymru, Deris Williams, has published a video to note the first 6 months of Hanfod Cymru.
“I am very proud of Hanfod Cymru’s achievements thus far, and very happy with the variety of charities supported by Hanfod Cymru grants in its first round of small grants. We supported 13 charities in our first round of small grants.”
Hanfod Cymru launched in April, and during the first 6 months the charity has been busy promoting, marketing and raising awareness of itself and the kinds of grants on offer by attending funding fairs, information sessions, and contacting voluntary organisations the length and breadth of Wales – and we’ve also produced lots of video content on social media and on our website.
“We’ve been able to fund all kinds of community projects including playgroups, a science education centre, and a Community Farm to name just a few” said Deris.
“Hanfod Cymru’s work would not be possible without our partnership with Loteri Cymru. 20% of the profit from Loteri Cymru ticket sales comes to Hanfod Cymru for onward distribution as grants to other charities”.
In closing Deris said “In September we opened the application window for Hanfod Cymru’s second round of small grants, which then closed on 8th October, and we received 86 – a 20% increase on the numbers we received for the first grants round.
“Our challenge now as Hanfod Cymru’s Board is to ensure that those charities that need our support, receive a grant so as to make a real difference across the whole of Wales.”
